Episode 015 From the Madison River to Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park, Montana!

One of our favorite local drives is from Bozeman to the Lewis and Clark Caverns State Park via the Madison River area.  There are several great recreational attractions along this route!

We visited with Lynette Kemp, The Lewis & Clark Caverns’ State Park Manager in this Episode!

THINGS TO SEE / DO:

Float the Madison River  Things you’ll need:

A weather report to ensure the day is free of lightning strikes;  A floatable device for the 2-3 hour float –  We like to use inner-tubes –  They’re fairly easy to find at the local tire shop or an all-you-can-get retailer;  Sun Screen; Tennis Shoes or some other foot covering to keep your feet protected; Water & Snacks – if you want to lug them along (In a waterproof bag or container); Swim suit or shorts; Sun Glasses.

Soak at Norris Hot Springs  Things you’ll need:

Money; A swimsuit & towel

Visit The Lewis & Clark Caverns  Things you’ll need:

Comfortable walking shoes; A Jacket; A Camera; Water & Snacks

 

DIRECTIONS: 

TO THE MADISON RIVER:

From Bozeman, head west on Huffine Lane until you reach Four Corners (Approximately 9 miles).

From Four Corners, head west continuing on Huffine / Hwy 84 until you see the Madison River.

TO NORRIS HOT SPRINGS:

From Bozeman, head west on Hwy 84 approximately 35 miles.

TO LEWIS & CLARK CAVERNS:

From Norris, head north on 287 (turn right from Hwy 84 onto 287 at Norris) until you get to Hwy 2.  Take a left onto Hwy 2.  Drive until you reach the Lewis & Clark Caverns State Park.  Take a right onto Lewis & Clark Caverns Road – and drive cautiously!
