Episode 012 Off the Beaten Path to Red Lodge, Montana!

by MT Rd Trippin' on August 27, 2014

On this road trip, we traveled off the beaten path toward the old tourist town, Red Lodge near the Beartooth Mountain Pass (Beartooth All American Road).  We started in Bozeman and had several stops along this beautiful route!  Here are some of the highlights along the way:

Columbus, Montana: The New Atlas Bar.  It’s a must-see for it’s taxidermy.

Absarokee, Montana: A quaint little town.

Fishtail, Montana: Check out the mercantile for fresh pie and Potter’s Rock Shop!

Nye, Montana: We discovered a scenic mountain trail, a cemetery, and Montana Jack’s!

Roscoe, Montana: The Grizzly Bar

Red Lodge, Montana: An old tourist town on the east end of the Bear Tooth Pass.

To the Stillwater Mine area: See the map below for the detailed destinations.  We started in Bozeman and headed east on I-90 until we reached Columbus.  From Columbus, we traveled south on Highway 78.  We turned off Highway 78 towards Fishtail on route 419.  Take 419 until you pass through Nye and end for a nice hike past the Stillwater Mine!

To Red Lodge: Head back the same way you came until you reach Highway 78.  Head south on Highway 78 through Roscoe until you reach Red Lodge, Montana!
